As the points of the Bedan are used when this tool is employed, these must be the focus of the sharpening activity.
When honing, I use a 1,000 grit diamond stone to touch up the left & right sides, and the bottom.

- Ernie Conover recommends an α of 25°-30° in The Lathe Book.
- Marty Kiminsky noted that an α of 15-30° is generally recommended for this tool in "Woodturning" magazine, issue # 352. (He did not note a personal preference though.)
